XT660R won't start - Fault Code # 19
I'm looking for some help as I'm getting a bit frustrated with this.
I started the bike to take it out of the garage yesterday morning and let it sit for a couple of hours. After that I tried to start it with no luck. It gives me a code 19 that according to the manual is " Open circuit in the input line, Black/red ECU lead (broken or disconnected)". I ran the diagnostic mode and apparently the problem is the side stand: it shows "off" for code 20 when extended AND retracted. I cut the side stand cable right above the connector and bridged. Did not work. Still code 19. I don't understand is why if the problem is the side stand switch why shorting it does not work... I checked to see if there was any connection loose or shorts and cannot find anything. The spark plug did not look that good. Replaced it but still code 19.. One odd thing I found when running the diagnostic was that the relay unit (diade) only gives me the expected continuity results when I invert the probes on the voltmeter... Odd for me that know close to nothing about electricity.... Any ideas? |

Someone more into the diag will be along sooner but i had the sidestand switch go faulty on me without any code and had to fault find the problem but after cutting out the switch and bridging the wires the bike did start but after a wiggled the wires about found that there is a connector just as it goes in under the plastics which was pretty much rotten.
If your up in there you may take the tank off a on the LHS there are a load of connector blocks which can cause faults as they corrode over time, best to seal them up with electrical sealant after a good clean out.

I haven't been able to remove the tank the check the connectors down there. Ridiculous. Are these connections that hard to pull apart? I'm afraid I might break the coupler if I pull any harder...
Edit: Yes, I'm lifting the plastic and pulling. Tried at both ends of the hose. |
