No master key no new ECU !!***

Ok, this has ruined my day. Just had my X for three weeks, joined xt660.com yesterday, all was well until I read that I should have got a red master key with the bike. Contacted the previous owner who sayes he never got one from the guy he bought it from. Bottom line is I have one black key .The bike is an 04 so I am guessing it has the 00 ECU, which is causing my low speed fueling probs. So luckily I caught this before I bought an 01 ECU , as disconnecting the 00 will totally kill my bike untill I fork out more for a new ignition barrel.
So if I buy a new ign. barrel first will this be all I need to put me back on an even keel ? I guess I will have to live with the surging for another while.
Not looking forward to pricing a new ign. anyone in the UK have an idea what I could be paying? Thanks Guys.

you need to talk to Kev about a fuel mod and setting the CO and tickover properly, this will cure/smooth out surging
while the red key is a "must get" item when buying a bike in reality unless you need to reprogram a key its not essential,i have had my XT for 3 years now and I have the red key but it remains in the folder that it came in unused untouched
talk to Kev before you spend any money there is nothing he doesn't know about setting this bike up!

Thanks Kevin, I have calmed down a bit today. I really want to get Kevs device, also what is CO ? I have not owned a fuel inj. bike before, so I think I am a bit scared to tinker with the system.

pay the fee to be an xt supporter and go to ask kev, you could search the site but if there is anything that kev doesn't know about setting up an xt i doubt that thing is worth knowing, imagine a guru only more clued up
