That's only 4k per year....no big deal in my opinion....if it's clean why not?.....Give it an oil change and off you ride...
Wouldn't put me off buying one with those miles... Just say'in like.. |

I think because here in Ireland bikes do less miles than the mainland I'm thinking 8000 is a lot for its age .my 2005 xt I have sold had on 11000 on it .I know its not high mileage .

If mileage concerns you, don't buy it, spend a bit more and get a lower mileage bike. However, 8000 miles is nothing, whichever part of the world you are from, it makes no difference to the way the bake rides, or the smiles (other than you'll have cheaper smiles). Mileage is only really a problem if it's stupidly high, or if you are concerned with residual values. In my opinion, bikes are for riding, not investing. I'd rather have a high mileage model, that has been serviced, had it's weak spots exposed (and warranty repaired) than a low miler that spent it's life in the garage with all those potential faults still waiting to catch someone. Your money - your call.

You have a point i guess i am always thinking of re /sale value if the mileage is high ,I can"t get to see this bike as it is in London ,so i will have to give the courier 4000 and let him lift it ,any thoughts on what other questions i should ask the seller.he seems straight over the phone .maybe i should just fly over and ride it back ??

if its very very clean and serviced yamaha boxed up i would be thinking 4.5 k is reasonable ...if your going off road dont be tempeted by the yam boxes if that is what they are ?? if your going off road proper expect to spend 350 to armadillo it up handgueards bash plate and maby crah bars that milage with a good service history wouldnt bother me at at all for the record its now done 22k and spent a lot of time and hours off road with no problems at all i paid 4400 for a 18 month old ten with no luggage but bash plate scottoiler and hanguards yamaha main dealer in november 2010 900 the clock if that helps .... to be honest if your not going off road tere are better options out there but if you are ... its been a really good bike for me ..no complaints at all ....great fun and tough too By minkyhead at 2011-12-04 Last edited by minkyhead; 14-05-12 at 23:20. |
