LED hand guard indicators....please help!

ahoy there folks! I have a cunning plan....

I would like to buy hand guards with built in LED lights, however, they are advertised as hand guards with "turn signals". I would like to somehow wire them up so that they are "running lights" when the ignition is on, and not use them as indicators. Kinda like the LED's you see in new audi's. when the ignition is on-on the bike, the wee parking light comes on, i would like led handguards to do the same. Is it a case of wiring up the hand guards to the wires for the parking light? or wire them up to the main headlight unit?

Cheers

Yes, I'd just hook them into the side-light circuit... being LED they won't draw a lot of current...

In fact it would be very easy just to take a feed from the wires going into the back of the side-lights behind the dash panel - someone will come along and say "don't use scotch-bloc connectors" any minute now... but that is an option x

Might be worth checking but I'm sure any side lights running lights must be white to be legal / pass MOT, Oh and don't use scotch block connectors.

Nah, just twist the bare ends of the wire together and wrap some tape around it. It'll be fine*.

*it won't.

(This is genuinely how most of the lights and the killswitch were wired in on my GasGas when I bought it. Funnily enough I rewired the entire bike shortly after discovering this.)

Hahaha, thanks for this guys, i thought it would be as simple as that but just wanted to double check! and good point with the colour of the LED's....i would want them in white anyway, i dont think they would attract too much of the wrong attention. Scoth blocks are the way forward Jmo ;-)
