The season has started (in the UK anyway)
Well, after some rather nice fine and sunny weather over the UK this weekend, it seams that many have brought their bikes out of hibernation.
I was out yesterday, early morning (as I often do) for a few hours while the roads were quiet, and I noticed a good few sports bikes. There was some very bad riding, and at speed too. Mis-judged corners, badly timed braking, terrible positioning and mad cow attitudes (for those who have seen how cows behave when they are first let out to pasture in the spring - you'll know what I mean) , I got home and said to my missus that someone will die today. I hate it when I'm right. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cumbria-17427354 If you are venturing out for the first time after the winter, for christ sake take it easy and get a few hours on the bike under your belt before going mental. When I say the season has started, I am of course referring to the time of year when we see biker fatalities.

Agreed, having ridden through winter I have noticed more bikes on the road and some terrible judgement too. Ride safe chaps!

Spring is definitely here... mornings are lighter, the daffodils are out, and GULGo's posted his annual moan about riding standards of solar-powered bikers

he has a point though. Next weekend is "start-up weekend" in Belgium. The MAG organizes free "riding assessment" exercises which double as a training, just to raise awareness about how rusty some riders have become over the winter. I encourage all the "solar powered" riders I know to attend. It is not just the bikers that are rusty, cagers aren't used to us any more either. |

I'll thank you to be a little more accurate. I make this pilgrimage to moansville at least once a week.

Well how sad but true.....I went out with a group of guys yesterday and the sports bikes were soooooo keen to show how quick their bikes were they took some stupid risks. And then on the way home one guy on his GSXR750 could not stay with me on the corners, they only seem to know how to open the throttle.......

Stop it, your making me home sick. I've only seen Yanks riding Harley's badly with no helmets on for the past few months. I miss getting amongst the wanabe's on sport bikes in the twisties.

It's also the beginning of the season of the ignorant bikers.
I've been using the bike to travel to work all week and cannot believe the amount of folk who do not acknowledge you when they we you. I get the impression that some of these folk wouldn't nod to you if they passed you in the desert. |
