Hello and a question... about paint

Hello all, I have recently bought a xt660z tenere (sold as 2009 but it is a white one and I think that means 08?.... No issue with that).

I think it must have been owned by a member of this board as some of the modifications match up. I think I will have some questions about the fuelling (it has a PCV, filters, pipes..) later, but for now I am trying to find where to get some touch up paint for the swing arm and engine cases. Can anyone help? It only has a couple of small scrathes but I would like to start of with it right.
Cheers,
Paul

and to

Paint, huh?? hmmmm

One of Yamaha's most treasured trade secret, no one knows if there is a paint code for the engine casing and no one has yet found it.

A few here have done the best they could by taking off the oil filter cover and go through halfords paint swatches to find the closest match and that is for the engine paint, whereas for the swing arm its kinda like a black metallic gun metal and again no one has found an accurate match.

Good luck trying.

p.s.: I am glad you are able to post now after I have emailed you the link to the fix... you didn't have to email me twice about it, I heard you the first time.. hahaha

Ahah, thanks for sorting me with the (simple) fix for posting. And sorry for asking twice, didn't know you were the same person as it were. The paint thing is really frustrating, I have a TTR600RE and have the same problem (frame paint).
Do you think it is worth me posting the query about the xt paint elsewhere in the forum or am I just stuffed. The only other option seems to be to ride it to a paint shop. And its cold....
Now, who do I ask about my fuelling set up?
Cheers,
Paul

No Paul this has been an ongoing issue with the paint ideal match, in the 7 years this bike's been about no one has yet found a perfect match.

Feel free to try below in the other sections but I won't hold my breath if I were you.
