Hello from Melbourne Australia

Hello fellow XT riders.
I just signed up today due to my curiosity as to how many other punters ride this type of bike.

Here in Melbourne and it's surrounding landscape, it appears to me that most bike riders are becoming very fragmented in their groups and sub groups.

BMW riders only nod to BMW riders, Ducati riders only nod to Ducati riders, Harley riders only nod to Harley riders, Sports bike riders only nod to Sports bike riders, Trail bike riders only nod to trail bike riders.

Where does an XT fit in?

When I pull up at a cafe or Bakery on my XT, well the sub groups dont appear to respond in a manner as if to know if I'm of the same breed as them or not (the Yamaha XT 660r is in fact a motorcycle).

For heavens sake dont look different or act differently or ride a different bike!

I love my XT because in the world I live in, the roads are not that smooth, the power of my bike is well suited to my skill level, it's huge fun to rideand it's comfortable for my 180cm 100kg frame.

I have not seen many XT's in Melbourne (3 maximum in a city of 3.5 million) and I wanted to know how many People in other parts of our ever shrinking world ride an XT.

Regards Tanjil

and to

Nice first post and the answer is... there's loads of XT riders all over the place, last time we looked at the statistics, these are spread between Europe, Australia & NZ, South Africa, and South America and if these bikes were imported in USA they will also be very popular because we got a lot of americans registering in this forum to find out about the xt bikes. Some have gone the trouble of importing them themselves from either South America or Oz.

As for the nodding thing... no one really give a damn anymore. Fact is the majority of other bike riders wouldn't even acknowledge the XT as a bike until.... you take a few of them for a ride on a twisty bendy road and see all those pocket rockets struggling to keep up with the smooth cornering ability of the XT's. Its not the straightline speed that matter on an XT but rather the throttle response in corners and twisties. Which is why someone on a GSXR600 will have to redline their bike to get the same torque response as our xt speeding in and out of bends, and as a result pocket rockets ****ing hate us

Hey fella i normally get the waving fist at me as i wheelie past everyone in the traffic, but here in Adelaide we all nod at each other except the Harley riders most are in gangs here so i try not to cut them up lol.
But welcome this forum and keep eye out from time to time as there are rides for your area in melbourne.

Alex
