throttle cables again

again about throttle cables

I'm still planing to raise my bars at least another 2 cm , to that makes about 5 total ...

I currently have 25mm risers and renthal enduro high bars ,

at 1m90 I still do not feel to comfortable standing up ,

so I want to go with something like rox risers ,

problem will be the throttle cables ,

I know I can go and find a company here or in the UK who makes custom cables ,
but I'm wondering if other Yahama bikes are using the same parts like for example the throttle assembly

if this is the case another yamaha bike cable (a longer one ) would maybe also fit the tenere ?

Anybody ?

What about the X and R cables , are they the same ?

I have literally just posted my cables off to Venhill ( www.venhill.co.uk) to get them to make me a set 120mm longer. About 41 for a pair of throttle cables according to their website.

I've heard nothing but good things about Venhill in the past, but will of course report back as and when I get my cables.

And of course once they've done mine you should hopefully be able to order a set without sending yours to them.

that would be awesome ,

what are they doing with the plastic parts ? like for example the piece which goes inside the throttle control on the handlebar , are they using your oem onces ? or do they also remake those ...

let me know !

I guess that's the only question. I ticked the box on the order form to say they could reuse parts if they needed to. I don't know if they will yet. If they do then I guess they'll always need a 'donor' set.

I'll let you know.

Throttle Cables

My twin Throttle cables, Clutch & Front brake line set are all at Venhills and im expecting a call today, I have 30mm risers and added the Renthal 613 and found that all 3 sets required modification, ive been able to re-route the electrical ones but found the rest either short or very short! I was told that Venhills turnaround was circa 3 days (if quiet) but i would assume around 7-10 being more realistic.

I posted mine on a Tuesday, so they would have had them Weds. I had them back the following Thursday.

They did strip my cables for the plastic guides at the twistgrip end, so I don't know if you would be able to get a set done without sending yours to them.

@Peregrine: Odd, my throttle cables were way, way too short (I had 120mm added to the new ones) but my clutch cable is still fine.
