Did I make a mistake

I'm not at all happy with my XTR..Not at all..
" nothing to do with the fueling"
The whole bike as a package just dosn't seem right..
not any one thing yer can put yer finger on..

Other than the power & seat on the XTR.. my
XR250 tornado is a far better matched package..

The sum total of all the componets used in the XR
work togeather far better than the componets
used in the XT do...

I will use it for a few long back country rides
over summer see if it grows on me...

So how do yous feel about your XTRs..really all hype aside..???

Well they're not for every one, as is with most bikes, but I don't think there is any hype in these bikes at all. These are the type of bike that you jump on the first time and you have a smile on your face, but if you find it that it doesn't live up to your expectation when compared with a previous bike you have owned, then the only option is to let it grow on you by riding it more and to try some more challenging terrains where they really shine.

They do take a while to bond with. I've had mine a couple of years and do enjoy it. I've got 3 other bikes so I'll go a couple of months without riding it and then when I do I enjoy it. If it was my main or only bike I'd have sold it pretty quick as theres so many bikes that are so much better than the xt.

The only thing I don't like about my xt660x is it only has 5 gears needs 6 or I have to change the cogs but my bike isn't made for the open road more of a hill thrashing and track bike...it depends what you really want from your bike? Like capt said it will grow on you,the standard bike is slow but you need to make the engine breath...air filter exhaust pipes,re-mapping ecu,and other stuff if fact lots of stuff can be done to the xt.

I just changed the bars for a set of factory XR250 ones..
They lean back more then the XT bars... the bike has a nicer feel
in the seating & standing postion...Up the hills next..

Cool thrills and grins

I reckon where you live has a big say in what bike you'll bond with..I'd love a garage full, like we all would,a bike for every mood..a late 70's/early 80's 4,a triple,a twin,a v-twin,a single..I'd have race machines and cruisers and cafe racers and and and and.....but I've had to thin the dreaming out to what suits where I ride..and..if your motorway miles are minimal..an XT does the lot..beautifully...what more could you want???....it's fast, agile, comfortable, economical, easy to fettle, brakes are OK,virtually weatherproof..and...it makes a great noise when the devil takes over your right hand...and if you're a nutter..your bottle will strive to keep pace with this machine's composure..just what are you looking for????

Had a bit better luck with it 2day... I will get
there in the end..something I can live with anyway...
I ride some very nasty terain at times... I can see the
XR250 will be staying in the stable for the REAL NASTY ****..
XT for the longer easyer stuff...

What I need is a Macio 685 2 stroke.. road legal... Woohoo now we are talking...
But I think I'm a bit to long in the tooth for something like that now...mined says I can still
do it.... But the body has other ideas...

Pics from 2days ride...

PS.... We need a rides forum....

Hi Petenz

So where did this 2 day jaunt take you ?

As an XTR owner I'd definitely recommend hanging in there a bit longer.

Can I just say that my R has hung in there and gone everywhere my riding companions much more expensive Z has gone
