Coolant temperature warning light on; why??

My coolant light is now on permanently, even when cold. Have tested the sensor with a meter, and I get the correct resistance across the temp range. There is also resistance on the wires connection, and there is water in the system. Anyone got any ideas?

It's Christmas... there are lights on everywhere...

Sorry, that's not really much help is it?!

The problem could well lie within the dashboard: a short circuit on its PCB (Printed Circuit Board) somewhere or the connector... The easiest way to find out is to swap dashboard... but that 's not an item you'll have at hand...

Check the connector on the dashboard: maybe it's fouled up and/or moist.

Thanks guys, will take a look at the dash.

JMo - Like the diagnosis. Do you think emptying out all the oil and disconnecting a few connectors will get all the other fairy lights going too??

It's probably also worth a check under the tank where the loom quite often rubs through against the frame resulting in electrical gremlins.

Now there's a thought. I checked the resistance for the conector and I get 3kohms. If anyone has the inclination, perhaps you could see what yours is to compare??

I find filling the clocks with water is an easier way to achieve this

Sorry, I'm going now
