Arai Tour X
Happy Friday Morning All!!!
I'm looking at getting an Arai tour x-2 but might get something else if you guys can give me info on other types of supermoto style lids. I have a rough idea as to who has what (Airoh S4/Shoei Hornet/Arai Tour X) but no real reviews on their quality. Having used a couple of Arai Quantum series lids I know what their's are like, but I have no clue about Airoh. Most couriers use them here so I'm not sure about their quality(Capt - I know you use one so dont get the wrong impression) Couple of questions: Do they make tinted visors for these lids? How does the padding stand up to time? (My current lid, an X-Lite, the cheek pads have disfigured slightly) What are they like on long rides? Cheers peeps |

I've got a Tour-X and would recommend them very highly. They are very comfortable (as you would expect at this price!) and pretty good even at high speed for noise and dealing with the wind.
I bought a genuine Arai light tint visor, which is road legal yet not too bad in the sun.

I've checked with the local Airoh dealer & for some stupid reason or other they dont stock the S4 so I cant go & check 'em out for a while.
I know Arai's are top dollar cos I've already owned a couple, but I've never looked at getting this type of lid before. I'm probably just gonna try one on, love it & buy it on the spot |

I've considered buying one of these too but a friend told me that they were uncomfortable at high speed due to the peak.
My lid is up for renewal too so can you guys shed more light on it. Storm - you said "pretty good" at high speed - I do alot of motorway, would this lid want to yank my head back all the time and give me shoulder muscles Arnie would be proud of? Whatever the performance, it's got to be better than my current leaking, noisy, scratched Shark lid. Watching this Thread with interest. R |

I've had my S4 for about a month now and to be honest I've been pleasantly suprised. Comfy, quiet (enough), looks the nutz and 'lid for yer lira' I'd say it's a steal. One comment I would make (and I expect that this is down to the style of the lid *like the Tour X) I find it a wee bit draughty on these cold mornings... can't wait for the summer though, it'll be bliss!

You can definitly 'feel' the peak, but I think it would only be a real problem on bikes with a much higher top speed than the XT. I could happily sit at 85-90mph for 45mins without a problem. You feel it most when you do a shoulder check at high speed, as the airflow stops passing under the peak, and hits the side of it, but it's still fine. Only a tiny bit worse than my Caberg V2 'normal' lid.
