Please Help - Tyres
Hi guys, need some help here. i ordered maxxis supermaxx sport tyres 5 weeks ago from 2wheel junkie and am now being told it might be end nov before being available, from manufacturer. I was offered GP209's instead but my previous post on here got no response so didn't know if they were suited or not.
What i need from you guys is what are decent tyres for the xtx, my riding is purely for liesure on twisty back roads, mainly in the dry and am not too fussed over tyre life as I only do maybe couple thou miles a year max. suggestions please ps I know distanzia get a lot of mentions but looking for purely road tyres. |

Tyres are like wimmen, not everyone likes the same type , some seem to go better 2 up and some like it wet . what if you had to ask your mates what she went like before you took her for a ride
PS have you read the blurb from dunlop on the GP209s? I havent but I guess they are a road race tyre that might be a bit slippy when cold.

Dunlop D209GP's are utterly, utterly horrific when they're not warm (ie if you ride at this time of year, even if it's dry).
If your riding is all in the summer, and only for fun, in the middle of the day, etc, they'll be fine, but a bit extravagant for a road tyre. I only used them on my ZXR400 because I got them for 40 a pair as race scrubs

yeh I figured they were "too much tyre " for the bike if you know what I mean, perfect for just summer blasts but not for general blatting about. I had 207RR's on my zx9r and this was certainly the case too. Anyway I said no to the GP209's a few weeks back but the guy at 2wheeljunkie is going to phone me with some alternatives so I was hoping for some advice with a tyre that is decent gripwise for dry (mostly ) roads and for spring summer autumn use only. will not be commuted on so not overly fussed about mileage. |

Have you looked at the Goldspeed tyres-

Personally I quite like Michelins, mixed on Pirellis and Bridgestones, take or leave Contis, and despise Avons. That said I have crashed a variety of bikes on a variety of tyres. |
