I know this has been discussed before but i cant find the thread . I have tried to get a connecter for the socket behind the panel and under the clocks . Yamaha dealers dont have anything for it, and when i have said " how do you connect the heated grips then " i have been told that they cut into the wiring loom ! . This cannot be right on a bike which people will put lots of things on . Does anybody know anything for sure about this socket . Thanks .

I "connected" the gps cable by inserting each wire one in the connector and planned to leave them for a ride to see if everything works and do something more permanent later... 15k km passed and I haven't

It is connected to the side-light circuit, and therefore shares a 10A fuse.

I agree it is strange that the opposite end connector doesn't seem to be available from anywhere - my suggestion would be to either cut the existing connector off and fit a suitable two-pin replacement (that fits a corresponding opposite side), or do what b374 suggests - although what I did was to solder some 1.5mm flat spade connectors to the end of my GPS wires, and they sit in the original connector nice and snug - wrap the whole joint/connector in heatshrink, and the job is, as they say, 'a good un'...

did you put a fuse between that and the GPS?

The cable for my Garmin had an inline fuse and i left it on.

Or splice off another fused cable just before the existing socket and connect it to a 12v socket. This way you got both, an auxillary socket you can fuse at the rating you need and still got the original plug for any diagnostic device. Works fine for me so far.
