Spokes
I wanna bring my spokes back to their original glory. They don't get any special treatment when I wash the bike - just a wipe over with a sponge. Have tried autosol and elbow grease but the deep set stuff won't budge. Any tips on what will do it?
Thanks in anticipation. |

Take said wheel off... get some fine wire wool and harpic toilet cleaner. sit down the floor with a hot cuppa, away from harmful sun rays, wear some gauntlets and start by wetting the wire wool in harpic and hot water scrubbing spoke by spoke. The spokes on these bike are not stainless steel they are just common steel they get dirty, and show corrosion easily.
Best thing to do is to repoke them on same rims with more expensive spokes. |

tHE SPOKES ARE RUBBISH QUALITY,dont go near them with the harpic (think of them lovely black wheels,it will ruin them)The trouble is the coating on the spokes is very thin, autosole will remove the rest of the coating so try not to use a abrasive
The best thing will be a decent degreaser and a toothbrush,im going to put some of that wonder wheels stuff to the test as the front wheel mainly gets all the brake dust baked on,on word of warning though,if you havent protected the spokes through winter with anticorrosive spray, you wont get them back to new, Im afraid its the usual answer, lots of elbow grease.i hope that helps. |

Thought as much. Back in the days, I remember attacking the rims of my push bike with a toothbrush, 3-in-1 and duraglit.
Thanks for the replies. |
