Fuel consumption during breakin

Hello,

My XTX is the first bike I've owned new, so I'm a break-in virgin. I was a bit surprised that I hit the fuel warning light again today after what I'd estimate was about 150 km or less on 98 octane fuel. I've reset the trip meter, so I'll know for sure on this tank.

The manual explains that the parts are polishing themselves to correct fit, and the dealer told me everything was a bit tight, so I'm happy enough that there's a bit more friction at the moment, requiring more torque and hence more fuel.

I was just wondering if anyone's got some numbers on the fuel consumption for a run-in xtx (no mods)?

I have had 3 new XTX's & they were all around the same. On the open road I got 220kms before the fuel light came on, in town 200 everytime, tank range 300kms once run in.

Dinnae worry about the engine,,it wont blow up......yel know yersel in yer water how hard yer pushin it...its a single remember,,its about tourque rather than performance in every gear,,, but it can pick its heels up when ye want it to. dont look fur speeds much oer the ton, ifye wanttae prelong yer engine... i sit at 75/85 most o the time,,an its absolutl;ey fine at that... sometimes when am in a hurry i race it thru the gears but thats only an odd time.. we need tae meet up an a kin talk wi ye face tae face...its easier.. but it wont blow up.

OK mate. I was told that some folk dont bother running them in and they're then fine until about 20k then they rattle their heads off.

How do you tell on these if they do that? They always sound like that compared to an inline 4 lol

I haven't taken it over 70mph yet. Been a wee bit paranoid that I cause it damage.

Smile No Rev Counter ? No Worries

Assuming the gearing is similar for the Tenere, in top gear an indicated 70MPH comes in at 4000RPM.
You're well inside the engine's 'safety zone' at those speeds.
