Question All going wrong...help?!

Getting a bit concerned about my XTR. seems to be drinking oil quicker than i can put it in, full tank a week ago now its empty.

im not sure if this is normal also, the radiator fan on the left doesnt spin.

and the coolant doesnt seem to be going down.

completely ammature mechanic here so any suggestions or help would be very much appretiated!

Make sure you are checking the oil level correctly.

You need to run the engine for a few minutes or take it for a short ride then check the level.

Yep.

The oil in the XT motor drains down into the engine when the bike is stopped. So to correclty measure the oil you must first pump the oil back into the tank before measuring it, just as Pete suggested.

It's all there in the owners manual.

hhmmmm yes... welcome to the XT oil filling nightmare.... lots of bods get issues here, it's very easy to over fill so make sure you've got one of those plastic oil filler bottles handy with the long tube on the end (empty of course) very handy for taking out that overfill.... been there done it burnt the t-shirt here's a group hug .... .. lol

Its not so bad guys....... Did my first oil and filter change on the XTX last weekend, followed the instructions in the manual, 1.9L then race the engine 4-5 times, then add the last 0.7L.......Perfect

The only niggle I had was getting the old oil out of the bike, without getting oil all over the bike. I made some little cardboard shoots and slides and not a drop fell on the bike. Woohoo

If youve still got the original tool kit under the seat there is a small shiny metal plate with it and this is for just that job.
