What tyre?

Hi there,

My 2nd pair of TKC80 are wearing out and I'm looking for new tyres, something smoother. I have also bad vibes on my Ten right now and I'm not sure if it's coming from the tyres, I want to find that out as well!
This year I'm not going to Morocco but I'm planning to do some gravel trails in Croatia at the Adriatic coast. So I was looking at the Siracs and the K60 Scouts but I'm not sure which one to pick. Am I'm missing some other good tyres? Mostly I will drive on tarmac, that's for sure. Because I'm riding the Ten everyday the tyres should be good on wet roads as well.

Thanks for any advice.

Cheers!
Mike

I've used Dunlop Trailmax (not a common choice on Xts) in the past for the type of riding you're suggesting...

At the moment I'm using the very much more road biased Trialmax TR91 as most of my riding will be on road this year, but these have proved fine on dry forest trails.

Both are good on wet tarmac and the TR91 are very grippy and give good feedback in the dry, the best tire I've tried for road use on bikes with a 21" front. Can't cooment on Sirac, but either Trialmax I have found better than Metzeler Tourance (neither is directly comparable to the TKC).

Hope this helps, but everyone's opinions/experiences on tyres will be very different as I'm sure you will find out...

I can strongly recommend the following combo: TKC front and K60 rear. That gives you a range of about 10000 km, with very good offroad AND onroad capabilities.
Maybe you would have less vibrations with an K60 front, but I don't have any vibrations so I can't tell.

I'll think about that... I can't complain about the TKCs. They're trustworthy and the current pair lasted about 12'000km.
