Tyre choice

I'm just having a little tyre dilemma on the R I've never had a 21" front before, so I don't know whether I've just got to get used to the poor slow steering or whether (as I suspect) it's the Anakee2s. I started with Sirac's and thought the odd steering was because they were �-worn, but the anakees are going the same way (5�k miles). I'm sure they were better to begin. So... contemplating either Tourance, on the basis that so many people can't be wrong, or Avon Distanzia, which are my gut instict. I know the Anakees get rave reviews but I've never been comfortable with a tyre combo where I use all the front - especially in winter. They just need nore curvature/profile... call it what you will (like a road tyre perhaps!  )

If you only plan to use you r on the road then yes the Aon Distanzia is a great road tyre. If you intend to do any off roading please consider something else.

I started with the tourance tyres on mine which were very good on road in all weathers but dangerous off road, then because ive been doing more green laning i put a set of swiss army specials on which are awesome off road and acceptable on road. Both tyres are superb at what they're meant for so your tyre choice should reflect what you want to do with your bike.

I found the Siracs to be good for both road and mild off-road use but the Distanzias are brilliant on road and the Annakees are good on rocky gravel off-road. Road tyres are probably very similar on most roads, tarmac or concrete, but off-road tyres are very specific for muddy, snowy, grassy, gravelly, rocky etc. You need to check what sort of off-road riding you will do, they are different. Jasext said it very well in another thread when he asked what sort of off-road do you want to do - small blocks to cut through grass, larger blocks to grip and to shed stones etc.
My three sets of wheels are shod differently depending on what I am going to ride because it is quicker and easier to change wheels than to change tyres on the wheels. The investment in extra wheel sets is worth it if you need the different grip that different tyres provide and you save money on not using quickly wearing tyres on the wrong surface.
