Fitting the Kev O2 Sensor mod.
Well, this has to be the best 50 that I have spent.
it is very simple to fit, call it a 15 minute job. Kev sends you comprehensive instructions with it, but there is one tiny detail that I will show you, where the XTX and the XTR differ, and that is in removing your petrol tank cover to check your coolant level. The first picture shows that you have to remove your seat, and then undo the two black Allen key bolts at the top of the petrol tank panel. ![]() ...Then you have to undo the radiator shroud, which is held in place by black "plastic rivets". I have never seen these before, and they are a very good design, in that they are reuseable, and so easy. Basically, to remove the "rivet", push the centre inwards, I use a small Allen key to do this ![]() here is a picture of the rivet, with the centre pushed in ![]() then you get your hand behind it, and push it out (towards you). To refit them, push the centre the other way, so that the centre is now proud of the head, and simply push it back in. ![]() When you have removed both of these "rivets", the tank panel lower attachment is just one of those "push/pull" fittings, just like on your sidepanels. So just pull it off, then pull it towards the front of the bike, so that the ear comes out of the side panel. The rest of the install is just like Kev's detailed pictures. Anyway....what's it like? Well, I have ridden 30 miles on it, (after a quick run to get it hot, and refill the coolant) Bloody fantastic!!!! No more surging, and my bike doesn't cut-out anymore! ![]() I thought the surging/stalling was going to be something I would have to live with, being a big single cylinder, with fuel injection...but, it is as smooth as silk. ![]() Nuff said. So here it is, my XT Xtra Smooth. ![]() ![]() oh....and effectively, by buying Kev's O2 Sensor Mod, over the Dynojet one, my new Rental 613-01 handlebars came for free ! ![]()
