Smile My XTR Two Years On

Hi

Haven't posted since joining ,but I've been reading many of the comments and learned heaps from all of you, especially Kev!

I've had my XTR for Two Years now, it has 36,000km's on the clock, still has the original Battery, chain, and sprockets (I had it serviced 2 months ago and asked them to give the chain and sprockets a good looking over, and apparently they still have a bit of life left in them??)... So I've only changed the oil, filter, spark plug and tyres and that's been it.... I do change the oil between 5,000 -7,000km though.

But what a great machine....It starts first time every time. I commute to work daily (65km) round trip and do the odd off road ride once a month and I constantly get 230 - 240km's before the fuel light comes on. That used to be almost 250km but I've followed the Kev Mods to the book and have almost done them all thus the reduction in fuel efficiency (but what a change those mods have made to the bike, worth the slight loss in mileage)...

My Mods include:
Touring Screen
Stage 1 and 2 DNA filters
Air Box drilled and snorkel removed
Kev Fuel Mod
Co adjustment
Aftermarket pipes
Just installed an Autoguage Tachometer.

What more can I say, but thanks to you all (especially Kev) for sharing your experiences and helping guys like me half a world away unlock the full potential of the bike.

I look forward to the next two years then maybe a change to the XTZ.

Cheers
Glenn

Well first off Hi and welcome to the forum and secondly that does sound good for the R, i feel alot more people are more interested in the Z were as the R is more than capable of doing it all.

Nice to see another r owner that loves their machine. Im just a little way behind you there haveing had my r 17 months and with pretty much the same mods as you. Not quite as many miles on the clock yet but catching you rapidly. Like you I'm grateful to Kev and others for their help.
I've no plans to change mine yet though as I'm more than happy with the r's all round capability.

Hey Dave,
the r is a lot more competent than people give it credit for, had mine since March '09 and I love it. Wish it had a sixth gear though!

I'm of the opinion that everything in life can be improved on, I have to agree the r could be improved with a sixth.
