New rear rack on my XTR

Now it is not every day that you find something that is very useful and pretty at the same time, unless you have supermodel as your girlfriend.
Today i finally fitted my new rear rack (made by one of our own XT660 members). Got it just before xmas, (a from "Gerhard-to Gerhard" xmas gift). Fitting it takes about 30 minutes and it is as strong and solid as a WW2 German tank.
It is made out of high grade 6mm alluminium with thick powder coating for extra protection. Design is perfect, strong and durable and the idea of using the top handgrip bolts as well as the exhaust mount as mounting points is cleverly thought after. You can actually lift the bike up from the back using the rack without worrying that it is going to bend or break- very useful when your mates have to help push you up that slippery and muddy hill after a river crossing.
Fitted my Oxford backpack on it , and there is still plenty of space all round to fit more goods and enough place to hook your straps in place.
The XT660R cutout on the rear just rounds this off and makes it something that looks professionally done.

Now if you go on net and search for XT rear racks you will not get alot, and none of the options is practical (especially those who had stickers on them saying MAX LOAD 5kg- WTF, who takes 5kg of kit with them on a adventure trip?) Hopefully this rack will get good exposure and be available on google soon...so nobody have to search too far again when in market for a good, practical, strong and pretty rear rack for their bike.
Well done GStry, it was the best money spent in long time on my bike.

???Cannot find section of bottom of thread to add pics, ...why???

Are there plans to sell them? If so, when and where?

Hi there. Im sure GStry will be making more of these for SA market as it gets exposure, so he might as well sell it all over- send GStry a PM and see.

There is another thread about this as well
