Happy new year all

I am just in the process of replacing my lid. I had a shark flip front effort, and have HATED .gif" border="0" alt="" title="Blowup" smilieid="589" class="inlineimg" />it ever since i have been on the XT660X. I find really noisy at anything over 30mph, it lets LOTS of air in, even with the visor down and sealed, and is awful in the rain. Not great as i am on the XTX in all weather (bar ice) and staying warm is proving an issue.

So i am moving an endure style lid as i feel it goes with the bike better. I had a short list of the Airoh S4, Uvex Enduro and the HJC CL-XS (i have had HJC before and found them great. However, I was JUST about to buy the UVEX Enduro, when i saw a deal on the HJC CL-XS VAPOR for �40 !!!!!

Does anyone own one of these or tried one and can give me pros/cons????

For �40 is it worth trying anyway????

Out of the lids listed the Airoh will get the top vote here. I've not tried it but many members have and were satisfied with it. Arai Tour X is my choice, but I'm sure others will see otherwise. Try them on first before making a decision whatever you get.

One last thing, motox lids let in lots of noise, so if you want ultimate comfort go for a full face jobbie. Oh, and another thing, the peaks can catch you off guard when travelling at speed. You'll find your neck muscles grown within a short time!!

I tried the Airoh S4 recently for my XTX and did not like it, lots on here will tell you its awesome so it really is personal preferance. I wanted a quiet lid so I opted for a full face HJC, �60 off Ebay, cannot recal the model (lid is at home today) but if its good enough for Ben Spies its good enough for me! (no mine isnt the replica) Its nice looking, light, warm and quiet, well worth it.

very pleased with the Airoh S4 myself. Great value for money.
The Uvex has a bit more comfortable inner liner imho and is slightly more quiet, but over twice the price of the S4 last time I checked.

But as mentioned already a couple of times, you really need to try them on to check whether they fit nicely for you. The inner shapes of these helmets can vary widely.

hi, i use a MARUSHIN TOUR X, great in the city, but as soon as i go out of thr city or for some long-ish journeys, it's noisy and get a lot of draft . i have to use a balaclava underneath it. and in the winter or very cold days i use a fullface one - shoei xr1000. but hey, i think you get what you pay for. the MARUSHIN TOUR X was about �95, and i would not buy it again

decided to order the HJC CL-XS. ordered yesterday from ghostbikes.com, paid with paypal, arrived this morning. not a bad service.

I decided to order the Vapour, which is patterned as i have a mental block on black helmets..... i like to give the cage drivers every opportinity to see me.

I have had a HJC helmet before, so knew that their fit suited my bonce, but was sceptical about ordering the same size without trying. but it fits like a glove.

I was relieved to find it has the double D strap closure, and not the seat belt fixing alot of the reviews mentioned.

Initial thoughts, without a ride. Tactile wise, it feels of usual HJC quality. It does not have a plastic feel that some budget helmets can have. The peak seems sturdy enough (although i have no comparison). And the lining and foam are all of apparently good quality. The styling is enough for me, without looking bully boy, or mid life crisis....

I can see how other reviews would criticise the visor. It has a mechanism that is friction based and only had 3 positions. Open, half open, and closed. The actual visor appears "flimsy" compared to my shark and other HJC, it does not feel of major quality. The visor appears to fit and seal, but I will know more after a ride. Remember, this cost me �40..... a pair of goggles is an easy replacement if it proves to troublesome.

In the box - Helmet, bad for helmet, instruction book, and cover plates if i want to remove the visor.

So far so good. I'll post a review after i have ridden in it later..... ask questions if you want to know anything......
