I'm considering buying one of these as a little Christmas treat for the Z...

I'm not particularly concerned about overheating, but it's always nice to know what the engine's doing.

They look great.

I had my own made up one on my 04 XTX, it worked well. The coolant temp runs around 85C most of the time while riding, the fans come on at 105C & cuts out at 98C.

The sensor was fitted inline on the hose between the throttle body & cylinder head.

Nice find - I have ordered the one with the inline water take off. Unfortunately I may have to dispense with Kevs very attractive water cooler unit though

I'm debating which is the best place to fit it - top hose or bottom? The top hose is easier to get to and has a nice straight section to cut on the Z, it will also have the hottest water travelling through it (before the rad), it'll be more influenced by the thermostat opening/closing though.

Let us know how you get on with it...

Fit it on the hose between the thermostat & top radiator hose, that will give a more accurate engine water temperature reading. Measuring it after the radiator will only show the temp of the water entering the motor not the motors actual water temp.

Did you use Tail Tech or was yours a home brew job? If it was home made how did you do it?
