Re: Optimate connection
Hi,
probably a dumb question, but I have done a search; for those of you who utilise an Optimate; am I right in saying that the XTX does not have a charging connection,(I understand the Ten does) and you need to affix one of the leads that come with the charger - mine was a garage sale item and does not have all the leads with it? If you want easy charging access without removing the battery cover all the time, that is. Or am I missing it behind one of the side panels? Thanks |

acumate & optimate come with an adaptor lead you wire permanently to the battery and just plug the charger to it when you need to. They cost about 5. I recommend getting the waterproof one which is rubberised and keeps the pin dry irrespective of weather condition. Been using them for 7 years now

They are a good idea though and you can buy after market/extra one cheap. As you say saves taking the seat off all the time.

Strange cause mine was on a honda VFR for 6 years then fitted to same one to my honda RR8 when I changes my bike it is as good as new!
Fitted one to my car and one to my XTR so I can use the charger on all once a month. On the XT, I have fitted it under the seat as opposed to sticking out (on the other bike) so I remove the seat to connect to it. What can happen I notice is that the rubber body can slide down the cable so that the cap never fully close on the top & around it in which can you can get the probs you describe over time. Worth checking |
