As most of you guys and gals know my first Ten was stolen. I now have another and have started to update it to ge it back up to my touring spec.

Fender extender



Yes I know, new bash plate / engine guard, with now a captive nut!



Adventure-spec bracket for Solstice lights (to come later)



Old Garmin ram mount used in conjunction with Adventure-spec wing mirror. This means that I can remove the Yam mirrors for offroading Nice




GPS mount made from 3mm alloy and using existing bracketry makes a neat and sturdy mounting for the gps mount.





Yeah got the hole positions at 90 degrees to where they should be!



You will also notice that I have fitted KTM handguards which fitted perfectly without any mods whatsoever. What you do not know is that I moved the crossbrace brackets outwards and fitted a longer crossbrace. Nice

I have now fitted heaters underneath the grips, quite cheap and just an adhesive plastic plate that wraps around the handlebar and twist grip and then you just slide the original grips back on.

Scottoiler now fitted, but this time I drilled and tapped a small hole in the end of the swingarm to mount ther plate that directs the tube to the sprocket. Pics to come.

Waterproof power socket mounted here



30Amp relay and four outlet fuse box mounted here. As has been described in other posts the relay is activated by the back light circuit and supplies the poers supply to the fuse box. The fuse box supplies the power socket, handguards and my outlet for heated jacket (I am old ya know!) The spare I intend to use for the extra lights up front.

The eagle eyed among you will notice that the plastic end of the headlight adjuster has come off. I took it out completely and gread it up before putting back. It now moves much easier and I can live with using a small spanner or screwdriver to adjust the headlight.



This time around it's been a bit easier to add the bits as shown as I know the bike a bit better. I have also copper slipped all screws taken off and know the bits of the bike that deteriorate. I have added small LED side lights which release about 9amps. I have shortened the sidestand about 15mm, cleaning and tightening up the gear lever, a point to note that this lever loosens up quite quickly. I soldered and shrink wrapped all of the connections and filled the back of the junctiin box with silicone. The terminals going in to the box were also covered in silicone. The box itself (Halfords) has space for spare fuses.

The contoller for the heated grips is secured into the panel that is underneath the dials and is a rocker switch with just High Off and Low positions.

The fender exender, heated grips and Scottoiler are from Gear4bikes
Wing mirror, Bash plate and spot mount are from Adventure-spec
Handguards are from KTM

As an aside from this report I am also using some gloves that I got from Adventure-spec a while ago and during my recent return from Wetton in the rain my hands did not get cold or wet. These gloves are very comfy and despite the handguards my knuckles were getting blasted with rain. I have mentioned this to the lads at Adv-spec and they know that they are waterproof but the spec for the gloves does not specifically state that they are seam sealed, hence they cannot advertise as waterproof. I actually ran a tap over the gloves before I made this statement!

I do not have any affiliation to Adventure-spec in any way but have found them to be very helpful and their goods are well tried and tested.

SteveD, I will be pleaed to see some detailed pic's of your Scotoiler installation. I have just purchased a VSystem and have not installed it yet so I would be very interested to see where you tapped and drilled for the mount the oil dispenser.

Thanks for the post and pics etc...did you drill the sat nav bar and put a bolt through it or is there a bracket behind it please?.... Might get one made up as the Ram mount is ok but vibrates like mad I think!
