cheating the rpm limiter

Has anyone ever tested one of these. Claims 20% higher rpm, that vould be nice with stage2 Hotcam.

The PCB seems to be a pretty simple any chances for a DIY mod on this?

Personally,

From the look at the website and the quality of whats for sale, I wouldn't trust them.

http://www.magnumtuning.com/carperfo...iimter_400.jpg

Looking at that link, from a company that can't spell Limiter on their products suggests they don't have much attention to detail.

and when they're selling stuff like Twist Air...

http://www.magnumtuning.com/en/produ..._saver_spiral3

I mean, how dubious does that look?

I'd love to see a car build with their mods on a dyno.

...you have to open the ecu, drill a hole in it...etc...

Hey Daz..you are JUST the man....!!

I am waiting for Dynojet to get back to me, hopefully with positive news.

If not, I may have to go down a route like this......if I do, for a couple of beers, would you have a look at fitting one to my bike?

I may have an order for a pair of napkin holders for you too!

Whoa... for a minute there, I thought you was being serious!

Although I'd have no problem in de-soldering components on a PCB, relatively easy thing to do, I'm not however convinced that this will work OR whether the engine could handle a higher RPM.

Just because an engine can rev higher, doesn't necessarily mean it'll produce more power. Granted, stick a hot cam in the motor and lightened flywheel and you've got yourself a revvy little engine with lots of top end poke.

And my napkin holders may well be 1 offs because it was a scrap piece of metal at work that I used, the end of a stainless bar that would otherwise probably go to waste.

As for a DIY PCB, I can't see a picture of the mods PCB on there, only ECU PCB's so without seeing the mod itself, it's hard to say.

As for working in theory... Yes, it is known that changing the crystals can affect the rev limit, but there are other things to think about like the fuel cut off and whether the ECU will like the new rev limit.

My bad, pcb seems to covered with epoxy or something.

http://www.magnumtuning.com/carperfo...ections_en.jpg

Here's how it should work, does it make any sense at all?

Task Levels
  1. Identifies the frequency of factory quartz was cicatrized in the ECU.
  2. Generate the same frequency with ultimate stability at the end of the special coaxial cable.
  3. After pushing a button it modifies this frequency value with extremely high resolution.
  4. Backups this frequency to a flash memory and keeps it after release of button.
  5. Ready to restore factory data when both buttons is pushed simultaneously

Daz, the crankshaft is near as dammit the same as a Raptor, it has the same Conrod, and revs to 9000.
I only want to rev to 7800. And at those revs, for my application, it wont make higher(peak) power at 7800. (a bit like our engine revs to 7200, but peak power at 6000), you just want to go "over the cam" for flexability with gearing/revbands....

Now lets talk napkin holders.....

Here is some more info about this mod, it's got something to do with altering the crystal's Mhz in ECU
http://www.magnumtuning.com/kepgaler...?termek_id=686

http://www.magnumtuning.com/en/produ...ontrol_module9

would it work even in theory?

@ richardsracingmad I don't even own a XT yet but i'm thinking about buying one

Ok, buy a XT !!! or go to the nearest dealer, take a photograph, put it on the forum, and just say it is your bike !!!!!

I think the product is similar to Procom, and people don't think they work, or if they do, not very well. But, they are not easy to install.

If you are looking for something like the Magnum, I am hoping the Dynatek RPM Limiter, DRL -300, will work on our XT's.....I am waiting for Dynojet to look at this for me (us!!)
