Oil for the Tenere

Sorry if this was covered already... I tried to find info on this but could not get anything...

What oil do you guys use... Should I stick to the Yamahalube or go for something like Castrol 1 Power GPS ? Or maybe Motul 7100...

Here's thread regarding oil for the Tenere: http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=13970

The Motul dealer told me that Yamalube is in fact Motul 5100. Anyway I used Motul 10W40 7100 MA2 at the second service interval (~7500km).

Cheers,

Me too. The bike seems to run better since the last service when the mechanic used Silkolene semi? Probably the engine had loosened up?

Halfords 10/40. It's all near enough the same for a plodder; and as we are not running R1's or F1's (according to my old pal who was a chemist for Castrol), then it's OK.

I had a Touareg once, and they provide "long-life" oil - total ******. Get a reasonable oil and change it routinely!

Fully agree, its not a high reving racing engine. Buy the cheapest with the right specifications.
