Display problem?

Hi everyone,
This is my first post, got my 07' xt660r two weeks ago and love it. Had no probs until tonight when the display went off while riding then all the warning lights came on for 3 seconds then the display came back on as normal. This happened about five times but the bike ran perfect the whole time and no fault codes came up. Any ideas?
Cheers dave

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on a great choice of bike.

You might try checking the connections to your display especially the one under the tank. Clean and reseat as necessary (i.e. eliminate the possibility of loose connections/earthings before starting to look at faulty instruments).

After removing seat and tank panels undo the bolt at the rear of the tank - you can then lift the back end of the tank and prop it up with a block of wood or similar to give access to the wiring loom connection. Fiddly job for those of us with boxing glove hands!

Without wanting to sound dull how do you get those 'quick release fittings' (yeh right) out to release the tank panels. It says in the manual a 1/4 turn but there's nothing to turn on it?
