Personally I always use Putoline (do you hear that Putoline, now send me some free stuff!!)

Putoline have two 4-stroke ranges - Syntech 4 (road bikes) and Off-road 4, (yes, you guessed it...) but I reckon they are pretty much the same stuff, just a different picture on the sticker...

If you are going to go 6000 miles between oil and filter changes, I'd go with off-road4/syntech4 PLUS version (that is with added 'ester tech' nonsense), if you change around 3000-4000 miles, the regular off-road4/syntech4 would be fine I'm sure... both versions are fully synthetic... and you'll save a bit of money forfeiting the ester tech additives...

I'd say in a bike with relatively long service intervals, it pays to use good quality (synthetic) oil that is less likely to break down over an extended period.

FWIW. in my XR400 (where I change the oil every 1000 miles), I usually use their regular DX4 ('synthetic fortified') oil...

While the WR450, which again has frequent oil changes, I use the regular off-road4 - after all, those little ester techs would never get a chance to do their business with an oil change every other day!

Bikes of Brighton (Preston Road) sell Putoline, and usually have all the variants in stock...

Tell 'em I sent you, and they will probably run screaming in fear of someone else asking for a discount... but they will look after you...

any motorcycle specific oil in the grade you desire will be fine..
I don't think anyone can say whether one oil is better than the other unless they are sampling their oil after every change and getting it tested..

Hee hee - I used to live in Brighton (for 16 years), but moved a couple of years ago now... I still get back there from time to time though - mainly to harass the guys in Bikes Of Brighton...

your paying for somthing you dont need even the handbook states full synthetic may make the clutch slip
stick to a name you trust by all means

have a troll round on the net ect ect
but full synthetic is not the way to go
