Solid chain lubrication

Just found this on the net:

http://www.carbonforbikes.com

It seems to be a solid chain lubrication system based on graphite. Asked the vendor for a Tener 2008 setup and I'm still waiting on a reply. They run for 150,00 Euros for first time instalation and 40,00 Euros for the replacement graphite block. It's supposed to last and lubricate the chain for approx. 6000km.

Wow - that's cool!

Doubt it would survive any off road activities and I think the Scottoiler is a better bet for the Ten'.

For a road bike - very nice indeed!!

I guess it depends where you ride ?

I can't see it's going to provide much protection against road salt, mud, sand or water.

But on a 'sunny sunday' bike it will be ideal, the only thing there is the relative costs increase on a bike that only goes out in the dry.

I'd like to see some reviews of it though, I could be way wrong in my asumptions

I have used the PTFE type dry chain lube in all conditions and like it. I cant see how this will be much different except it is automatic. I like the idea just not the price.

Phil have you had a reply from them yet about the Ten setup?

Yepp, they are working on prototypes for three different bikes a year, that will then go into production. The Rep could not tell me if the Ten is one on them, but he was convinced it will be done. So time will tell... I'm quite happy with my Scottoiler right now. Even in the lowest position on the dispenser, the whole bottom of my bike is lubricated eg. chain, sidestand, sprocket and even my boots seem to leak less water!
