Yam Centre stand XTX/R

Does anyone know if the standard Yam centre stand for the XTR will fit the XTX as well.

It's the same chassie isn't it. It's just that some suppliers only list the centre stand for the XTR and don't have it listed for the XTX, including wemoto, who seem to do the best price delivered.

http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/Yamaha/X...ntrestand_Kit/

Any help, much appreciated.

I took my H&B centrestand off my X and put in on my R so I don't see why another brand shouldn't be the same.

Well I ended up ordering an SWM centre stand that came today.

Took a look at the fitting instructions and realised that to fit it the mounting brackets are fitted behind the side stand.

This requires removing the side stand, I got the centre stand as an alternative to paddock stands that I don't have the room to store.

It's ironic that to fit the centre stand you really need a centre stand so you can take the side stand off.

If I'd of known this I would have ordered paddock stands anyway, used them to fit the centre stand and then sent them back.

Or I could just stop whining and bribe on of my mates to come round and sit on the bike to keep it upright while I fit the stand. It would be nice to be warned about this sort of thing when you buy though.

You can have both. You just have to remove the side stand to fit one of the centre stand mounting brackets behind it. In the absence of paddock stands this leaves you with nothing to hold the bike up.

I ended up using a handy low wall covered in cardboard to prevent scratches to the engine bars. Got the side stand remounted and then put it on the side stand to work on the other side.

SW Motech Centre Stand Fitting Tips
1. Borrow paddock stands if you can, or have a friend handy.
2. Hold the centre stand loosely in the upright position using cable ties to the swing arm.
3. Place the mounting brackets on the stand and then remove the footpeg brackets from the bike.
4. You should be able to easily slide the centre stand brackets under the bike brackets and remount using the longer bolts supplied.
5. You get two springs, don't even bother with the lighter one. The centre stand will sag nearly to the floor at the slightest touch.
6. Fitting the stiffer spring isn't too hard if you still have the stand held up by the cable ties. Hook the spring into the bracket and then take a long length of para cord. Double it up, place this around the other end of the spring. I knelt behind the bike and braced my knee against the rear tyre. Just leaning my body weight back was enough to stretch the spring and hook it around the connection on the stand.

Hope it helps
