Shortening Cans

I have a set of Akros on my XT and want to shorten them due to the small dents in one of them, Has anyone had a go at this before?
The dents are near to where they connect to the pipes so im pretty sure i can cut the dented section out and then re-rivet them back together. Im just unsure what is inside the akrapovis and if it will cause me a problem once ive cut them open.

Have a word with Simon Cope of PowerTech Uk, he might be able to cut them open and re-rivet the end bits by the link pipes.
