Snorkel

Took my snorkel off today and what a difference. I always knew i had the jerkyness problem but just delt with it and changed the way i rode the bike, but without the snorkel it has made the world of difference and urge anyone who has the problem to start with the snorkel.

Get a stage 2 DNA filter on your bike then you will see a difference & if you have the money go for the big dady the Stage 3 air box.

Kev, would a stage 2 DNA filter make a difference if you havn't got your mod or a power commander?

I too was really impressed with the removal of the snorkel but obviously there is more room for improvment!

For the first 4000km I never had a problem with surging, and quite honestly had no clue what all the discussion was about on this site...

Now, slowly I am starting to notice the problem... although right now it doesn't bother me too much. I have the feeling the backfiring when slowing down has increased a bit is aswell.

I am going to go through a few of the steps you guys are all suggesting, and have already started off with taking out the snorkel yesterday. For the moment the only difference I noticed was a deeper sound when accelerating. I suppose the snorkel really mainly helps to dampen the sound.

Will see what other modification bring.

The stage 3 offers the best filter performance but you need a PCII or PCV for it to work = 8hp gain , the stage 2 is a great filter that offers big gains around = 4hp . Removing the snorkel = 0.5 hp gain. The XT motor responds well to more air & fuel.

You should really fit a fuel device with the stage 2 to get the full benefit, my mods are on special at the moment at cost price, so now is the time if you want one.
