Question 2009 XTX: Rear bulb keeps blowing

Hi Guys
Been running my XTX for about 6 weeks now after buying it 2nd hand. The bike was registered in May, so less than 6 months old. Had a problem tonight - basically noticed as putting my gloves on ready to ride home from work that the tail light wasnt on. Under Insvestigation it was the tail element in th e bulb broken. Luckily there is a car workshop round the corner so got a new bulb fitted - Lovely. Rode 12miles to tesco to fill up and guess what? Bloody light off again!! Just what you need in pitch black and foggy conditions!! Obviosly lost no. plate too....Luckily brake light works still. When I got home I checked bulb again and it had gone black and sooty this time. Could this be vibration?? (rear light seems to pivot?)
Too late to call Yamaha when I got in but as the nearest dealer is a 50mile round trip I wondererd if any one experienced this? Obviously may be something simple but am reluctant to take it anywhere but Yamaha as it is still under warranty. Im fortunate to own another bike that will come out of hibernation for rest of week but it is a pain in the arse!!!
Thanks in advance

I had this with mine last winter. It looked like the bulb was just shaken to death. I think after a while all the bits on the bike work loose a bit and shaking gets worse. The garage fixed it by sticking some rubber from an old tube between the headlight holder and the frame. Never had a problem after that.

Make sure you are using good quality bulbs, those cheap ones do not last.

If you move the rear tail light around you will find it has quite a bit of free play. Get some foam & pack it behind the tail light assembly to support it, that should help.

Or do what I've done and buy a LED replacement stop/tail light bulb off evilbay.
Had the same problem, and leaving for work at 5 in the morning I didn't need the hassle.

just bought some heavy duty stop and tail lamp bulbs from Halfrauds, supposed to be for trailers and 4X4's so should be OK for XT's vibes I hope.

My route to work is mainly on a concrete dual carriage way so vibes are a constant problem my old bike blew tail lights like it was the fashion and the XT has eaten 3 recently
