Bash Plate?

Hi gang, has anyone seen or fitted this sump guard? I only really wanted engine guards but the OEM ones seem to have been failing and the only other ones i can find are the Hepco Becker ones and they go all the way up the side of the bike. (Which i dont really want)

I've got the Yamaha OEM engine bars, the first set broke (same as everyone else's) but the new ones have been on the bike since May and so far so good, I've not seen any reports of the replacement ones going. They are a slightly different design, so hopefully this has resolved the issue.

You could go for the OTR full width bash plate (like what Jenny has, but mayb less yellow!) they look pretty well put together, and more importantly, they don't use the same mounting points (these are pretty weak)

Never seen these before and pretty expensive too(in US-dollars?). Like said, there are more alternatives on the market, and cheaper too.
Greetz, Hans.

By the way, I got the original Yamaha bashplate from day one(june13th '08) and it's still okay!

This bash plate was designed by the guy who runs the main Yamaha garage in Israel.
I've seen it installed on one bike and it seems solid enough, though the protection to the water pump is limited.

Thanks for the replies guys. I might give the revised yamaha one a go. Any tell tale signs that would show if it is the first edition or the new design?

How much does the Yamaha one cost?

Personally I'd go for the OTR one (although perhaps less yellow as Darren suggests) - it looks similar but is stronger and better made:

Note mine was a pre-production one with unpolished surface as he knew I was getting it painted...

Another option is the SWMotech one that looks similar, but I can't vouch for the strength of that myself...
