Engine guards???

Hi guys, i want to fit an engine before the winter sets in to protect the water pump and crankcases. I have found this one on E-bay.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Yamaha-XT660Z-...d=p3286.c0.m14

But i have heard that the original Yamaha product has been failing so i dont want to fit that one. Is the one on E-bay the Yamaha guard? If so could people give me a few pointers as to what sort of choice i have got? I only want the guard to go around the bottom half of the engine.
Thanks in advance for your replies....

Got yam ones fitted to my bike and np at all, fitted them as i do alot of offroading and one day managed to snap the waterpump pipe clean off when i dropped it, i was in the middle of knowhere, and the waterpump gaurd from offroad.de wouldn't have saved it either as it hit right at the top, with the engine gaurd its now protected..that is a yam one on fleabay by the looks, i believe the newer ones are modified slightly.

I have the OTR guard - it is a similar shape to the Yamaha one, but much stronger. It is more money, but I would say is worth it...

ps. it doesn't come in yellow, I painted mine...

Hi Jaume -

Boy there is a lot to tell!

The best thing is probably to look at the dedicated thread:

http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=10925

...which chronicles the build up from the original bike pretty much from the moment I brought it back from the USA earlier this year - it's worth a read, even if I do say so myself!

If you have any specific questions afterwards, please just ask in that thread!

Glad you like it!

Jenny xx
