Type/Size of chain

Hi Folks,
sorry if this is a dumb question but does anybody know what chain is on the Tenere? Is it a 520 O ring? The reason I ask is that I'm off with some mates in a couple of days trail riding in Portugal and I've been told by 'those in the know' that I need a couple of split links just in case!

Words of wisdom needed please!!!

hi ,yep you got it it's a 520 ''x''or''o''ring.

mine had a regina x ring from new which wore out and had tight spots even though a scott oiler was used.though on one occasion the bike was washed with an very high pressure hose which may have forced water passed the x ring.the chain was really shagged at 5500mls.

im sure you will check yours thoroughly, no point risking a breakdown

bye

Yup 520 chain with 110 links. I had the same problem with the cr*p oem chain so had it replaced with a DID X-ring chain which still looks like new after a further 10k miles.

Thanks Gents,
much appreciated! I've had a look at the chain and it 'seems' okay but between the group of mates we've got the necessary bits and bobs just in case the worst happens.

As soon as I get back from the trip I think I'll be putting a better chain on anyway!

My original OEM chain is sh****d now at just under 12k miles.

It has some severe tight spots and makes alot of grating noises now!

Anyone know of the best prices for a DID 520 X ring chain and sprockets set please?

Thanks.

Although i don't have a Tenere (i have the pegaso with the same motor) mine came with Regina X ring 520\110 and after 15,000 km it has tight spots
although i use an oiler and i clean the chain from time to time, other with the same chain report the same.

After some investigating on the net DID VM2 and AFAM XHR are getting good reviews
