Tenere Rack MK2
I've had the rack design improved - it's a small mod, but I think it makes a big difference. The rack is now cut out with a curved cutter (which i've had made) so that all edges are completely rounded. This gives the rack a much nicer smoother look, as well as removing the last possible wear point on straps etc. Despite the improvement the price stays the same.
Just to recap, and for those who don't know - Tenere Rear Rack. CNC machined from 4mm 5251 high grade aluminium bead blasted for satin finish, then anodised (silver or black) CNC turned 1050 aluminium legs, anodised to match bolts supplied are high tensile bright zinc plated steel. Price per rack - 43 Postage for one rack within UK 4.50 Postage outside uk, please PM for price. I have 5 black, and 3 silver. some pics below, once the weather clears up i'll take some more. I'll probably start selling these on Ebay soon, i'm probebly pushing my luck with the Forum Mods already, so keep an eye out on there too. Cheers Pete. |

Thanks Pete.
My rack arrived today and has been fitted already. Nice rounded edges as Pete describes above. Thanks, Nick. |

Maybe a daft question but would this still enable the use of the Yam top box . Ie: Would the fitting points stick through the holes on the plate so you can use it for both?
EDIT: No is my answer looking at it but that would be a great mod with the best of both worlds |

You are right, it doesn't allow fitting of the top box whilst rack is fitted - however it takes only minutes to fit so if you are going on a trip you could always swap between the two. Top box on its own for short trips near home - panniers and rack with tent etc for longer trips.
Alternatively GasUp has adapted a rack with some plastic blocks shaped to fit the top box receiver on the bike - that way the rack slips into place like the box would, though i dont know how it locks into place. Darren - pics? |

I obtained some nylon block and carved it to mimice the underside of the topbox, in the important places anyway. I then welded up a small subframe to hold the various pieces of nylon together. Bolted the racj to the subframe and away you go. It was a very time intensive process, I'll be happy to show people it, but as for producing another this has to be a one off i'm afraid. I'll get some photo's later.

Aha! Allo Capt', I saw that you'd posted in this thread and thought "ah, someones finally had enough of me"
points noted - the quality, reliabilty and compatibility are already sorted - and the discount side of things i'm striving towards. cheers Pete. p.s. if i sell 'em in the for sale section, what are my chances of a 'sticky'? |
