Question Rear light problem.Help please

Hi all..Got a problem with my rear light but firstly can someone tell me if you can put an LED light/stop light straight in without any problems? i know you need resistors or a flasher relay for the indicators but was unsure about the rear light.
Ok heres my dilema....
Ive cut the rear light off to replace with an LED light. The LED light didnt work so ive wired up the old light (the cut off one) and now that dosent work.Only when i apply the brake i get a light (Brake light). Have i blown a fuse?
thanks in advance !

Yes you can just wire in the LED lights without any problems and yes it sounds like a poped fuse

ok thanks paul but one other thing mate......
If the brake light on the bulbed light works should the LED's brake light work also?
When i re-wire the LED one i dont get any lights at all but if i wire up the bulbed lamp the brake light works ok. :s confusing.
So is there a seperate fuse for the rear light and the rear brake light then? i thought the light/brake light would be on one fuse meaning none would work if the fuse blew.

i dont think the brake lights and rear side light will be on the same fuse check all fuses to see if they are ok also check the bulb
you could try wire the L.E.D light straight to the battery to see if it is working

Check to see if the filament in the bulb for the tail light has broken, because mines gone twice therefore only the brake light working.

I got sick of this so replace it with an LED replacement bulb.
