Engine Bars

Ordered Hepco & Becker engine bars from http://www.motobins.co.uk/index.php, turned up 12 days later.
10 out of 10 for fit and finish,
took about an hour too fit with no problems.

Some tips on fitting,

remove horn and reg/rectifier, makes it easier to get at the front engine mount. (no need too remove exhaust)

before refitting reg/rectifier check terminal connectors are pushed all the way into the connector block.

radiator pipe rests on the left side upper mounting point, (see pic) i cut a piece of rubber and placed it between them.

Mwah, glad it fitted right on, but one might ask: is it necessary? It's an extra bulk of weight and the Tenere got lots of protection of its self(besides the waterpump). So, I won't consider this mod for mine, as it also messes up the look of the bike. But hey, everyone his/her liking, don't ya agree?
Greetz, Hans.

I am waiting for delivery of a set of H&B for mine as well and your tips on installation are very welcome BigB.

I personally like the look of this kit and for someone planning on a long distance travel these bars can have some additional clever uses ;-)

they weigh next to nothing, my veiw is they look good and looks are not important when they give this much protection. plus i've fitted my spot lamps to them.
The Tenere don't crash very well, as my mate will tell you when he dropped his green laning, he smashed the water pump and damaged the plastic protectors on the same side, and i was the muppet who towed him 40 miles home.

Do you think that these crash bars protect he water pump enough? The original Yam version is much closer to the pump. Hmm?

I fitted the same bars and no doubt one day I will be glad they are on it!..... I had H&B on my GS when I dropped it standing still and it saved the engine with min scratches on the bars

I'm going to buy the GIVI TN348 crash bars, weld a GIVI monokey frame on both sides and fit forward panniers. This should solve overloading the rear frame and transfer weight. Looks, have you seen a picture of me!! Oh and if I hit anything hard the panniers get it before I do. The only thing I need is skinny or hand made aluninium panniers

I have received the Adventure Spec crash bar/bash plate combo. However, the checklist of what I should have received dosen't match what came in the box.
a. A bashplate present
b. A set of crashbars present
c. Three anodised aluminium spacers one only (which dosen't fit)
d. 2 X M8 20mm stainless steel flanged bolts the ones attaching the plates to the bars??
e. 1 X M10 90mmstainless steel bolt present
f. 1 X M10 150mm stainless steel bolt present
g. 2 X 10mm stainless steel nyloc nuts one only, but the front attachment bolt now appears to be welded on (new design?)
h. 4 X stainless steel washers 3 only

I phoned Adventure Spec, but the guy "wasn't familiar with the product" (?) so would call me back. Am I missing something, or have they sent me the wrong bits? This is only the second time I have ordered from them, they messed up my first order as well, but I don't want to complain if it turns out it is me being dumb (which is likely). Help!
