Multiple questions...

Hey all,

Sorry for the multiple questions, but it seems easier than creating lots of threads...

1. If I put handlebar risers onto the bike, how far can I go before the cables start to get too short? 20 - 30mm seems the increase of choice but I'm wondering whether the cables will support that.

2. After reading through the main power & electrical threads, it sounds like it's ok to use the additional plug behind the headlight - but is this just for a GPS system? At some point I'd like to put in a 12V power supply, etc so would I need to put in an additional auxiliary circuit? I've no idea how to do that, but I can ask that question later.

3. I've looked around at various crash bars for the bike, but they seem to vary quite a lot. Quite a few seem to rise up next to the fairing where your knees are, but I can't see them protecting the water pump, etc (and that general area). The question being, are those types of crash bars adequate or do you need something more comprehensive?

Sorry again for the variety.

Thanks,

Alex

I'll stick my oar in for starters,

Risers - i have 30mm risers on mine, cables are fine on full lock. I am soon to fit Renthal Enduro High bars as well as the risers (i'm 6'4" and need a very upright riding position) this might well be a different story. I think Skunkmoto has these bars, and Tripletom does, tho i don't know if either have risers as well. Neither have mentioned changing cables to fit the high bars.

Power socket - Coxwain (pro bike mech) fitted a set of Gen Yam heated grips recently and they came with a plug to fit that connector, so heated grips are good to go - others have fitted 12v aux sockets and GPS powered from that socket, realistically if you put all three from that supply will they ever all get used at once? the grips and the GPS yes, but what are the chances of you wanting to blow up your tyre with a compressor, keep your mitts warm and see where you're going all at once? No great hardship to turn the grips off for 10mins if thats the case eh?

Crash Bars - not sure i can help you on this one as i have my own reservations about the adequecy of all the ones i've seen so far. Its part of the reason i'm doing something myself

Hope i've been some help
Pete

Yup I'm running Enduro high bars, I had to trim 10-15mm off the end of each grip section and once done had no problems with cable tension. I'm NOT running aftermarket risers.
I have the yamaha crash bar and it's not broken in the places where others have, it also did the job when the bike went down the other day and protected the water pump.

I'm like Pete and just under 6'4", invariably I find myself collapsing as the ride goes on so I'm sure increased height would help on the handle bars.
