Where is the CAT??
Can someone please tell me exactly where the Catalytic Converter is in the standard exhaust. I would like to do a catectomy. I am guessing it might be in the "expanding" section just prior to the main muffler??

The cat converter resides inside both exhausts, you will need intensive surgery, because the original cans are not serviceable, you need to cut them open at both ends and get to work on a dremmel saw to cut the catalytic unit from both cans, then weld them back together making sure they are straight?
Is it worth the trouble when you can get a set of Carbon Can Co for 260? When you resell the bike people might want the bike in original conditions and that type of surgery is irreversible, whereas you can sell your :CCC: here and make most of your money back. |

Im with captmoto on the subject, i know sometimes money is tight but in the long run your probably going to be taking at least a day per can to get it off, cut and gut it then reweld back up again.
And when you come to selling it standard cans are nearly allows a must have now due to ever stricter MOT centres

Thanks for all the comments guys. I am in New zealand so the MOT and emission bull**** isn't a concern for me (yet). We have enough out-of-tune trucks on the road creating enough pollution for everyone!! However, I don't want to make a lot of noise and that was my reason for asking the question. What are the absolute quietest aftermarket pipes?
