Front wheel wobble

I've recently started getting a wobble from the front wheel/tyre at low speed(less than 20 mph). It seems to smooth out at higher speed.

The tyres are Tourance with 3000 miles
There are no obvious dings or dents in the rim

My thoughts are

The wheel is slightly buckled

The Tourance has "gone off". I've know a few people from my GSing days who had front Tourances that wore oddly and did this.

Any ideas?

Stumpy

i've had this a few times on 4-wheelers (i'm a mechanic) and it has usually turned out to be one of the two you've mentioned.

Do you have a centrestand? If so, get someone to sit on the pillion seat to lift the front wheel and then you can spin it by hand to check it.

Hope that helps.

Pete.

Yep i would go for the tyre. But just to make sure.

Like Peatbog advised if you have a centre stand get someone to push the back of the bike down and spin the front wheel.

Good Luck.

Just thought I would update this.

i was playing around trying to sort this out before going back to the dealers.

I took the SM front beak/fender I added a while ago went for a ride and it made a big difference. Ten played around with the tyre pressures and all is well.

I still think the tyre has worn oddly but I think I've solved it for now. Be interesting to see what happens when i change the tyres

I've had tyres go out of shape too.
Unless the wheel has had a mighty ding, it is unlikely going to warp out of shape, but not impossible of course.
Keep us posted on your findings.......

Timpo.
