Road tyres for my XTR
Hey folks,
I've currently got Tourance on my bike, but the profile is a little square, and i'm unlikely to be spending much time green laning. So once this pair these have had their day, I'm looking for a good pair of dual compound that will last a decent time, give me good mileage, and some welcome grip in the twisties. Oh and a little more confidence in the wet would be nice too. Bear in mind I've only been riding for a week. Any advice would be much appreciated Cheers dudes Sidey |

Sidey,
Avon Distanzias in my opinion. Have a look at the tyre thread on the forum. Excellent grip in the wet, superb in the dry. But, with tyres, it is a personal preference thing, although for the 2 years i had my XT i wouldnt use anything else, thats for sure. Cheers WB |

Not 1005 certain on the XTR tyre sizes but I', looking at some Bridgestone BT45 for my XTZ. Its a dual compound tyre so should fulfill the breif of what you are after. It'd probaly give a bit better milage than the Distanza but I'd recon the Distanza might offer more grip (judging by other peoples reviews)

Hi
The Tourance on your bike were fitted just before we left for europe last summer,so I should think they have done about 7000 mile's now So I should think they would be good for 10,000. I have tried most make's and the two I tend to use the most ,which I have found offer good grip in the wet and dry,and return good mileage, are Tourance and TKC80's But everyone is different, and untill you have tried a make, you can't tell how your going to get on with a tyre till you have riden on them. I would say the Tourances are a good tyre and i never really noticed any difference in the wet from one tyre to another apart from a pirelli which was crap.
I think it doesnt really matter what tyre youve got if its squared off your handling goes up the left and when in the wet its worst as you try and only slightly lean in and hit that point on the tyre where your just going over the edge of the flat spot. (im on it as the moment and have had the rear spin up so easy mid corner in the wet) Ive a front Avon Distanzias on at the moment and handling grip etc good but rears going on thursday so time will tell, never used them before.
