i will tho.
I headed that way yesterday, like you my plans changed - after a 'slide' (me one way the bike the other), because of a bl00dt dog loose in the field. Signs up all over leting people know it's lambing and dogs should be under control (ie - on a lead) but this thing came bounding over, just as I was 'navigating' the transition from crushed rock to slippy slidy mud/grass mix. Bike went one way, me the other! Twas the TTR so no harm done, had me body armour on, so nothing but hurt pride (or so I thought).

I had a word with the 'walkers' regarding the dog, there reply was astonishing. It was my fault for riding my motorcycle ilegally! and they had witnesses to prove it!

They wen't happy when I took thier pictures, recorded the location (aren't GPS's great at time!) and rode into Keswick and made a report to Mr Plod. apparently it was the 15th this weekend about dogs being loose in fileds with sheep. Don't people realise how dangerous sheep are when it's lambing time! Not to mention Falmer Parlmer with his gun - idiots!

Anyway, feeling wound up I tackled the Old Coach Road in the wrong direction - from the Quarry up. I fear this is not a good route for the Lakes meet (OK the other way) as the climb is large loose rocks and even with good off-road knobblies on the bike was all over the place on the climb up. Compounded by my body reminding me of the off an hour or so earlier! and it's telling me again this morning!

Sorry, I've hijacked your thread, what I was trying to say is;

If any of you guys are planing a stay in Grizedale, give me a shout and I'll send you some maps with the off road routes marked up.
