JMo is on a distinguished road
Whenever I've dealt with Garmin Europe (UK) they have always been more than helpful - the first time was back in the mid 90's when I had to pick up a GPS from them just two hours before getting on the ferry to Spain/Morocco - even though it was going home time, the guy in the office stayed behind and showed me all the basic functions and made sure the unit initialized etc. properly before we left...

Since then, whenever I've had a problem or warrenty issue, they have always been knowledgable, and in a similar instance to GULG (once with my GPSII+ and more recently twice with a 2610), the out-of-warranty replacement unit has been essentially brand new, and very quick replacement time (as I understand it, they have a stock of manufacturer referbished units, and once the receive your damaged unit back and make sure it's a genuine fault, they simiply send a replacement out automatically).

I must say, their customer service is not as straightforward or indeed 'personal' as it used to be since they incorporated the "press 1 for this, press two for that" automated switchboard...but once you speak to an actual person they seem as knowledable as ever - I guess the call centre is required since so many people now use Garmin products in their cars etc. - they have come a long way since those basic handheld and marine units they started with...
