If it is tight in just a couple of localised places you can press the area inside the helmet with your thumb to push down the polystyrene.

I did this with mine, it had a tight spot which left a big red mark on my forehead so I pushed it in with my thumbs and it was ok.

I think this is ok just for small areas though, but is maybe worth a try. Good luck.
