Aha - yes, that is a very similar idea to what I have in mind...

If you remove the existing numberplate light, you have two little bolt holes which you could attach a bracket to (bent at around 45�, parallel to the upper mudguard section). If you use a 7x5.5 inch numberplate (typical enduro bike size that doesn't attract too much attention), it would sit very nicely below the rear lights, while still leaving the indicators and rear reflector visible - and you'd only need to cut the plastic protrusion below the reflector...

I see this guy used the oval R&G number plate light, but I believe they do a cylindical one too that would fit very neatly in the panel below the rear lights?
