Are you saying that you succesfully threw away the tubes from your original XT rims and fitted the tyres on them without tubes, and that your wheels are keeping the pressure up or... have you somehow sealed the spokes eyelets inside the rims? I'd be very interested to find out how you have achieved this as to my knowledge fitting tyres without rims on a spoked wheel causes air to leak through those eyelets.
