Great report Capt. I remember in 04 when I first saw the literature and the bike itself I wanted one (X version). Supermoto's looked cool and I wanted a bit of the action. At the time I could not afford the X as they were brand new and I had been away from biking for a good few years but always loved bikes. The X got my juice's flowing so I decided to go buy a cheap sub 1000 bike to see if my current life style could make use of a motorcycle rather than drive a car every where. That bike was the Aprillia Pegaso 650. A rather dated 1993 Italian import with 35,000 mile on her. Needless to say I loved it back on a bike but after a year it was clear the Pegaso was on its last legs so off I went and PX'd it for a slightly more expensive Honda VFR750. That was and still is the biggest bike I have owned and I loved it. The V4 sound and grunt is amazing and the Honda handles like a dream. The only trouble was I was going to kill myself of worse loose my license. By this time I had saved up enough money to buy a mint second hand X from George White in Oxford (over 100 miles away from me). I picked it up on a freezing October afternoon and the ride home was interesting. From that day I have to say the XT660X has answered all my needs as a bike, reasonably quick but not silly, loads of bottom end commuter friendly grunt, handles brilliantly, brakes brilliantly, styling is spot on once you bin the standard cans.
It was good to read the other post you did regarding the birth of XT660.com. I to agree it is better not to have direct access to the forum as that way you keep it protected from the idiots that unfortunatly exist.
Summary - Glad I have an XT and glad I am a supporter of the forum. Thanks.
